I realize that most of you probably don't know where Shimonoseki is (unless you've been to my house and my mom has shown you on the map). I had never heard of Shimonoseki before my friend Heidi moved here three years ago. Shimonoseki is on the southern tip of the island of Honshu (the largest island in Japan). It has a popluation of about 300,000, and has an average yearly temperature about 20 degrees warmer than Minneapolis. That means I'm still wearing short sleeves, and we still have flowers.
