Yamaguchi is the capital of the prefecture that Shimonoseki is in. Last week I went with Yoko and Haruka to the prefectural English Speech Contest in Yamaguchi. These two chu-san (9th grade) students from Baiko competed after placing first and second in the city competition. Unfortunately, neither girl placed in this competition. After the competition I visited a famous five-story pagoda in Yamaguchi built in 1442.
